The 1996 Toyota Chaser JZX100 is a Japanese performance saloon with a turbocharged 1JZ-GTE straight six and a cult following. Its deep tone, massive pops and boost whistle come through with real high-rpm clarity, along with a breathy, whining turbo and the odd bang. Gear changes, idles, braking and static revs join start-ups, drive-offs and the car passing and fading into the distance. Recorded in the engine bay, near the turbo, by the exhaust and at the trackside, this Toyota Chaser JZX100 sound library does a legend justice.
We recorded the cabin with an ambisonic microphone, then delivered it as stereo, 5.1 surround and four-channel A Format, perfect for surround and VR work. We edit out the speech between driver and crew, so you get clean cabin sound. Surround files aren’t available in the Short & Sweet library.
